LEARNING ACTIVITY 1: WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT CIRCUITS?
We've already studied the structure of the atom and how the movement of electrons can create a static charge. Let's expand our knowledge and experiences and look at the electricity within our homes and how the plug in the wall makes things work.
1) Let's start by brainstorming what we already know about electricity.
a) Click here to access your Learning Journal and place your ideas on this page.
Write everything you know about electricity. It can be scientific or non-scientific. It can be about experiences
you’ve had, words you’ve heard (even if you’re not sure what they mean) or you can use the “Drawing”
function under the “Insert” menu in your journal to draw a picture.
b) Pick one of your ideas or stories about electricity and share it with your classmates using the Blog page.
c) Once your classmate have left their ideas, make a comment on at least one of the posts. Remember to be
positive and supportive. Let the author know if their comment made you remember something, or taught you
something new. It is ok to disagree with someone, but remember to do it respectfully.
2) Try this Electricity Pre-test

2) Try this Electricity Pre-test
3) Have a look at the class results of the pre-test. Use your Learning Journal to reflect on our results.
Write your thoughts about the results of the Electricity Pre-test. Is there a relationship between how confident people were and the number of answers chosen in each case?
What is something you hope to learn about electricity as we move through this module?
